Our 21st Century Grant is a partnership between the
Greensboro Dreamers and the Greene County School System
(6th grade – 12th grade).
We are in Year 5 of this grant with sites at Anita White Carson Middle School
and Greene County High School.
Enrollment at CMS =
Target 80 students in grades 6th-8th with new focus on Math!
Enrollment at GCHS =
130 (45 Dreamers in 12th grade & 85 Non-Dreamers in grades 9th - 12th).

et on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-6:00 (CMS) & 3:15-6:15 (GCHS) with buses running at 5:30 and the media center open until 6:15 p.m. Credit Recovery is available for high school 21st Century students until 7:30. The Boys and Girls Club is available for 21st Century CMS students until 7:00.
We meet 2 Saturdays per month for Academic Enrichment (buses and food provided) and there are additional Saturdays for Educational Field Trips, Community Service Events and College Readiness.
Academic Saturdays include: job readiness, writing workshops, health education, movie maker, test prep, leadership, Renzulli PSP, college preparations & academic supplements.
Field Trips include: College PROBE Fair, America I Am, Bodies Exhibition, campus visits, Georgia Aquarium, CNN Studio tour, Health fair, and Museums.
Community Service Events include: Teen Summit, toy drive, canned food deliveries, cards to the sick or elderly, Relay for Life, tutorials for elementary students, local festival set up and participation and Food Truck Distribution.
We also meet for a 4 week long summer program.
There are attendance and behavior requirements for the students. It is not a drop in program. Students must register and commit in order to participate. We also must be flexible due to the other commitments of the high school students.
Our students have the potential to earn their high school diploma and pursue college or technical school since there is remediation, enrichment, exposure, emphasis, encouragement & modeling.
We work with UGA’s College of Education to recruit qualified tutors and to plan programming.
We also partner with Kaplan to promote college testing readiness for Juniors and Seniors.
There is an Adult Literacy Requirement for the parents and family members of the students in the BEST program.
It has included: importance of reading, drug awareness, financial management, teens and the law, bullying, high graduation requirements, options beyond high school & cultural programs.
